COLOR MY WORLD
Preschool / Kindergarten
What are the colors of the rainbow? Where do rainbows come from? Young children will discover the world of color and light through several hands-on actvities, songs and games.

JUMP START TO HEALTH
Preschool / Kindergarten
Healthy Eating is everyone's concern. Childhood obesity is a growing concern for families. This fun, hands on program helps everyone get a jump start to being fit and healthy. "Move more—watch less" good advice for everyone.

THE SALAMANDER ROOM
Preschool / Kindergarten
Animals live in special places where they find everything they need
to survive. Through an interactive story-telling activity of the
book The Salamander Room, young children
will discover what salamanders need. Students will explore the world
of animals with several hands-on experiences..

KIDS IN THE MARKETPLACE
Level 1 - Kindergarten to 2nd Grade
Will learn about money recognition, spending and saving using games and pretend play.
Level 2 - 3rd Grade to 4th Grade
Will form thier own bookmark manufacturing company. Using a limited amount of resources, each "company" will create thier own bookmark. A store owner will decide which bookmarks to "buy" based on quality, quantity and price.

SLIMEOLOGY
First Grade Program
Is slime a liquid or solid? Young scientists will use the slimeology
laboratory to experiment with a variety of slimes. The will even
get to create their own "slime". This program compliments
the solids and liquids curriculum.

LIFE CYCLE OF A MONARCH BUTTERFLY
2nd Grade Program
Where do butterflies come from? Starting with an egg & going through the caterpillar & larva stages to butterfly. Program uses crafts & a board game to learn about the life cycle & migration of this beautiful butterfly.

EXPLORING ENERGY
2nd - 3rd Grade Program
Why does the light go on? This question is answered by the exploration
of different forms of energy - sound, chemical, radiant, electrical,
atomic & mechanical. Includes fun hands-on activities with batteries
and lights. Some discussion about fossil feul and possible replacements
for it.

DIGGING FOR DINOSAURS
2nd - 4th Grade Program
What can be learned by discovering and digging up dinosaur fossils? Children learn the intricacies necessary to learn from fossils that archeologists might discover. They each are able to carefully break open Plaster of Paris to study what they discover.

EXPLORING SOUND
3rd Grade Program
What exactly is "sound"? Children will learn that sound
is created by vibration. They will do hands-on vibration activities
and learn that ears and sound wave detectors through several fun
experiments.

"TURN OFF THAT LIGHT!" The average home spends $1,900
on utility bills each year. In the energy room children will learn
about how to save energy and why that is a good idea...for our environment
and for the pocket book.
WATER FILTRATION
5th Grade Program

There are five steps that water must go through to get cleaned before
it goes into someone’s house. Children will make their very
own water filter and learn how each part works.

Teachers will receive pre-visit packets with confirmation of field trip and an outline of the program.
Each scheduled group is given a two-hour slot of
time which includes a forty-five minute program and extra time to
explore the museum and to visit the gift shop.
*Please call for more information about having programs
come to your classroom! Cost: $5.00 per child plus mileage to &
from if outside of Sheboygan. Minimum 15 children or pay for 15
if your group is smaller.

To FULLY enjoy your visit.
- Adults are encouraged to interact with their children.
- The Lion's Toddler Safari Room (2nd floor) is for those under
4 years of age.
- Everything is constructed to safely hold adults and children.
- Use WALKING feet.
- Keep shoes on.
- Use INSIDE voices.
- The black spiral staircase to the tree house is for ADULTS ONLY.
- No swinging/swaying of the sky crawl.

BROWNIE AND JUNIOR GIRL SCOUTS PROGRAM
Learning and badge earning will be fun at Above & Beyond Children's Museum. Brownie and Junior Girl Scouts can learn about and actively discover ideas in the world of science. Participants will do lots of hands-on experiments and have some great items to take home and tell thier families about.
Brownie Girl Scout Try-it: (girls, 1st through 3rd grade)
‘Art to Wear’ — each girl will need to bring a plain t-shirt or plain bandanna to decorate. They will also do face painting, macramé, and make a mask.
‘Eat Right, Stay Healthy’ -girls will learn about eating healthy, and learn how to read food labels and make a food mobile.
‘Senses’-girls will learn about the five senses. They will make a two sided picture, taste some foods, feel some objects, guess some smells, and hear some different kinds of music.
‘People of the World’ - girls will make a German flag, play games from a different country, and talk about the languages that are spoken in Sheboygan.
Junior Girl Scouts Badge: (girls, 4th through 6th grade)
‘World Neighbors’ - girls discover how to count in Spanish and German, celebrate a holiday from another country, and learn about world hunger.
‘Drawing and Painting’ - girls will explore the world of colors by using crayons, colored pencils, and paints. They will learn about lines, shades of colors, and murals.
'Aerospace’-girls will make a glider and a kite and shoot for the starts. They will talk about what it is like to be an astronaut.
‘Let’s Get Cooking’ - girls will create an egg recipe, make a microwave treat, and a special blender drink.
‘Sky Search’-girls will learn about the constellations, planets, parts of a telescope, and about the moon.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I leave the museum & come back in?
Yes, admission paid is for the day and you can come and go as long as you are wearing a name tag.
How do I find out about special events?
You will see posters throughout the museum and you can always check our web site. Once at our web site you can sign up to receive our e-newsletter with regular updates.
How do I become a member?
You can stop at the desk and sign up to become a member. If after your visit today you decide to join before you leave the museum, we will deduct your admission paid from the cost of the membership. There are many benefits to membership such as FREE general admission, discounts to special events, discounts for parties, discounts in our gift shop and more.
Do you offer parties?
We offer two levels of parties. There is a basic party for one hour or our popular AB Party which gives you the party room for one and a half hours, Personalized cake with ice cream, milk and decorations. We also offer Sleepovers. With all party options various add on options are available such as face painting, craft projects, pizza & soda, and other availability. The museum can be rented for other private parties as well. How can I volunteer at Above & Beyond Children’s Museum?
Volunteers play a big role here. Volunteers can earn memberships. For more information, pick up information at the front information rack or on line at our web site: www.abkids.org.
Does Above & Beyond Children’s Museum receive tax dollars?
No. Unlike some other museums, we do not receive any funding directly from state or local taxes. Admissions and other earned revenue cover approximately half of the museum’s operating costs. Above & Beyond Children’s Museum is a non-profit organization that seeks other revenue via donations, grants and corporate sponsorships. What are the museum’s hours?
Monday through Saturday 10am to 5pm. Sundays between Memorial Day & Labor Day we are open 11am to 3pm.
