Community Culture Exchange/ Intercambio Cultural Comunitario
Community Culture Exchange celebrates the cultures, traditions, stories, and creativity that make up our community.
Intercambio Cultural Comunitario celebra las culturas, tradiciones, historias y creatividad que forman parte de nuestra comunidad.
Created alongside local artists, families, and cultural partners, each evolution of the exhibit invites children and caregivers to learn through play, art, storytelling, and shared experiences. By centering community voices, the exchange creates opportunities to celebrate identity, discover something new, and build connections across cultures.
For our current Community Culture Exchange, ABCM has invited Mexican artist Gabriela Marván, founder of the Mexican Folk Art Collective and a cartonería artist based in Viroqua, Wisconsin, to help create and co-curate experiences celebrating Mexican art and culture.
Creada en colaboración con artistas, familias y organizaciones culturales locales, cada edición de la exhibición invita a niños y a sus cuidadores a aprender a través del juego, el arte, las historias y las experiencias compartidas. Al dar protagonismo a las voces de la comunidad, el intercambio crea oportunidades para celebrar la identidad, descubrir algo nuevo y fortalecer los lazos entre culturas.
Para nuestra edición actual de Intercambio Cultural Comunitario, ABCM ha invitado a la artista mexicana Gabriela Marván, fundadora del Colectivo de Arte Popular Mexicano y artista de cartonería radicada en Viroqua, Wisconsin, a colaborar en la creación y co-curaduría de experiencias que celebran el arte y la cultura mexicana.

Día de Muertos Play Lab

Join Maria from Sheboygan With Kids for a playful celebration of Día de Muertos! Families are invited to create together, explore this special tradition through hands-on art, and help our colorful Alebrijes get ready to celebrate.
Come create a little Día de Muertos magic with us!
No registration required. This Play Lab is included with regular museum admission at no additional cost.

Cornhusk Doll Making
Saturday, November 17 | 10:00–11:00 AM | All Ages
Join our friend, from The Mexican Folk Art Collective, Yesica Coria for a hands-on workshop exploring the tradition of cornhusk doll making. Families will learn about this creative tradition while working alongside Yesica to make a cornhusk doll of their very own.
Come learn, create, and connect—and leave with a handmade doll to take home!
No additional cost. This workshop is included with regular museum admission and is open to all ages.
